In UCB, we are committed with improving our ESG Journey more and more every day. Thus, we adopt a comprehensive agenda, including environment, social and governance actions, with consequences internal and external to the company.

Internal action examples

Include optimization of our operations, monitoring our efficiency and resource utilization, in addition to actions aiming at greater female participation and hiring of minorities. We constantly monitor our efficiency and usage of resources related to operation to develop water consumption, power consumption and resource usage reduction strategies, in addition to set operational targets, including increase of reuse water utilization

Targets for indicators

UCB is committed to reducing the environmental impact of its operations. As part of this journey, we have set targets for the performance indicators monitored in our manufacturing units:

Manaus

  • Energy: 0.40 kWh / unit produced
  • Water: 1.15 m³/employee
  • Recycled waste: 75%
  • Paper: 0.013 sheets / unit produced

Extrema

  • Energy: 0.34 kWh / unit produced
  • Water: 0.25 m³/employee
  • Recycled waste: 99%
  • Paper: 0.07 sheets / unit produced

In UCB, more than 51% of the workforce are females, and around 36% of our leadership are women, evidencing the company concern with reaching gender equality.

Responsible minerals initiative

This procedure outlines UCB S.A.’s commitment to complying with Section 1502 of the Dodd-Frank Act and managing the use of Conflict Minerals. The Rule mandates disclosure of the use of Conflict Minerals (as defined in the Dodd-Frank Act) originating in the Democratic Republic of Congo or its neighboring countries. To fulfill our commitment, we have implemented the RMI-suggested control for responsible supply chain management and are actively engaging our suppliers to enhance transparency throughout our supply chain.
