UCB INDUSTRIA DE COMPONENTES ELETRONICOS E INFORMATICA S.A., a legal entity registered under CNPJ/MF number 07.589.288/0001-20, offers warranty for its UNIPOWER batteries as follows:

  1. Warranty Period:

A. 24 (twenty-four) months warranty for 2V batteries. The first 3 (three) months are considered “legal warranty” (as determined by articles 24 and 26 of the Consumer Protection Code), and the remaining 21 (twenty-one) months are considered “contractual warranty” (article 50 of the Consumer Protection Code);

B. 18 (eighteen) months warranty for 12V batteries with a capacity greater than 12 Ah. The first 3 (three) months are considered “legal warranty” (as determined by articles 24 and 26 of the Consumer Protection Code), and the remaining 15 (fifteen) months are considered “contractual warranty” (article 50 of the Consumer Protection Code);

C. 12 (twelve) months warranty for 6 and 12V batteries with a capacity equal to or less than 12 Ah. The first 3 (three) months are considered “legal warranty” (as determined by articles 24 and 26 of the Consumer Protection Code), and the remaining 9 (nine) months are considered “contractual warranty” (article 50 of the Consumer Protection Code);

D. Warranty for cyclic use batteries will be 03 (three) months of “legal warranty” (as determined by articles 24 and 26 of the Consumer Protection Code);

E. Or, as per contract signed between UCB and the customer.

  1. Damages caused to monoblocks: Damage to the cover, casing, and/or terminals during transportation, negligence, misuse, soldering on terminals, damages occurring during installation by unskilled persons, floods, fire, corrosive agents, explosives, or any other natural action will not be covered by this Document. Note: In case of any type of violation or damage upon receipt, notify the responsible carrier for reimbursement by the insurer.
  2. Warranty: Will be ensured to the end Customer when the reasons for its application are duly proven and justified, and when the following conditions are observed and fulfilled:

A. The technical specifications of the manual or catalog must be carefully observed and complied with;

B. Cyclic use charge voltage: 2.35 to 2.45 Vpc (volts per cell) at 25º C with a maximum duration of 12 hours. It is recommended to use 2.40 Vpc at 25º C.

C. The use of batteries in float condition must follow the technical specifications of the manual or catalog and indications on the product itself, as highlighted below: ▪ A minimum spacing of 10 mm must be guaranteed between the batteries and between them and the cabinet wall, when applicable. ▪ Float use charge voltage: 2.25 to 2.30 Vpc (volts per cell) at 25ºC – recommended 2.27 Vpc at 25ºC. ▪ At temperatures different from 25ºC, the float charge voltage should be compensated for based on the temperature variation; ▪ For temperatures below 25ºC – add 0.003 Vpc for each ºC of variation. ▪ For temperatures above 25ºC – subtract 0.003 Vpc for each ºC of variation. ▪ Always observe the battery cut-off voltage to avoid damage due to plate sulfation.

D. Storage, when necessary, must be done with the battery fully charged and must be recharged at regular intervals as below: Storage Temperature                                         Charge Intervals 20°C or less                                                          Every 9 months 20°C to 30°C                                                        Every 6 months 30°C to 40°C                                                        Every 3 months For batteries <= 5 Ah, reduce this time by half.

E. Once the storage periods described above for each temperature are exceeded without the necessary recharge, the batteries are at risk of irreversible damage and may endanger the installation;

F. Temperature control: The annual average of the ambient temperature must not exceed 25ºC and the cell temperature must not exceed 33ºC, for more than 30 days a year;

G. Safety valves must not be tampered with or removed;

H. Batteries must not be contaminated by any corrosive or solvent product. Do not use cleaning products;

I. Battery charge: All batteries must be recharged immediately after discharge. If this recharge does not occur, the batteries may undergo an irreversible sulfation process, permanently damaging the battery; such a condition is not covered by the warranty;

J. Record Book: A record book containing installation reports, periodic and updated notes on usage conditions, general condition of each monoblock, environmental conditions (temperature, whether constant or not, cleanliness, etc.), individual and total battery voltage, charge current, as well as registering abnormalities, if any, must be kept at the battery installation site. The presentation of this data is essential whenever warranty is claimed or on occasions of technical inspection carried out by UCB. The interval between periodic preventive maintenance should not exceed 3 months;

K. All installation and maintenance functions must be performed in accordance with the “UNIPOWER Battery Technical Manual”.

  1. Identification Label: Battery identification and traceability information must be kept legible; its removal or erasure will automatically result in warranty loss.
  2. Warranty Type: Counter: Freight expenses are the responsibility of the sender customer.
  3. Responsibilities: It is the responsibility of the Reseller and/or retailer to inform all customers of the content and conditions of this Certificate. In case of doubt, call UNIPOWER Support – +55 (11) 5078-5555.
  4. Warranty Replacement: All products replaced under warranty become the property of UCB. CONAMA Resolution No. 401 of 11/04/2008

At the end of the battery’s useful life, contact UNIPOWER Support for proper final disposal procedure. Health and Environmental Risks: The battery contains toxic components, which can cause harm to health and the environment if improperly disposed of. Composition: lead, diluted sulfuric acid, and plastic.
